Jeannie Adams represents businesses, authorities, hospitals, nursing facilities, ambulatory surgery centers, pharmacies, physicians, and other licensed health care practitioners in administrative and regulatory matters before State agencies and the State Corporation Commission. .

Ms. Adams assists health care providers through every step of the certificate of public need process, including strategy administrative hearings and judicial appeals. Representative COPN projects include replacement and new hospitals, ASCs, diagnostic centers, hospice facilities, LTACHs, and radiation therapy centers. Ms. Adams offers treatment counsel to clients on medical staff credentialing, medical staff bylaws and peer review disputes, JCAHO compliance, reporting requirements, and other federal and state health care regulations. She has developed and revised medical staff bylaws for hospital and ambulatory surgery center medical staffs. She has assisted Hospitals and their ethics committees with issues ranging from end of life decisions, consent, guardianship and TDOs, reporting, and patient confidentiality. She also represents individual health care practitioners with licensing disputes before the Virginia Department of Health Professions, including the Boards of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Optometry, and Long Term Care Administrators, and monitors important regulatory developments in these areas.

Ms. Adams also advises health care clients on licensure, third-party payor certification and payment, regulatory compliance and other operational issues affecting provider services. Ms. Adams has successfully represented hospitals and nursing facilities in payment disputes in federal and state courts and in administrative hearings. She has also represented facilities and practitioners seeking redress from adverse actions and civil monetary penalties imposed by licensing and certification bodies in both administrative and judicial appeals.

Ms. Adams represents businesses and authorities on energy issues before the State Corporation Commission. Recent successes include representing the Frederick County IDA in defeating an 85 million dollar rate increase sought by Allegheny Power.
