Jennifer L. Stevens is an associate in the civil litigation section. Her practice is primarily dedicated to the
representation of healthcare providers in the defense of professional liability litigation.
Ms. Stevens earned her B.S. in Criminal Justice, summa cum laude, from Old Dominion University. She received her J.D.
from Wake Forest University School of Law, where she was on the Wake Forest Law Review. Upon graduation from law school,
Mrs. Stevens clerked at the Virginia Beach Circuit Court Judges’ Office for the Honorable Judge Edward W. Hanson, the
Honorable Judge Patricia L. West and the Honorable Alan E. Rosenblatt.
Ms. Stevens has experience in defending healthcare providers in the Commonwealth of Virginia involving a wide variety
of issues, including the following: appendicitis, birth-related neurological injuries, cardiovascular disease, cerebral air
gaseous emboli, cesarean section delivery, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, decubitus ulcers, dementia, denistry,
depression, dialysis, dissection, falls, fetal distress, hyperbaric oxygen treatment, hypertension, hysterectomy,
informed consent, ischemia, LASIK surgery, medication overdose, myocardial infarction, penile reconstruction surgery,
pulmonary embolus, retained foreign objects, and sepsis.
Ms. Stevens has represented hospitals, nursing homes, and physicians specializing in anesthesiology, cardiology,
emergency medicine, family practice, general surgery, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, ophthalmology,
orthopedics, otolaryngology, pathology, psychology, pain medicine, pediatrics, radiology and vascular surgery.
She has also represented nurses from the following areas: emergency department, family practice, nursing home care, and
vascular intensive care unit. In addition, she has experience representing radiology technicians and cytology technicians.
Ms. Stevens also represents individual health care practitioners with licensing disputes before the Virginia Department
of Health Professions, including the Boards of Medicine and Nursing. She also is experienced with Petitions for
Guardianship and Conservatorship.
Ms. Stevens is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Virginia and the US District Court for the Eastern District
of Virginia and is a member of the Virginia State Bar, Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys, and the Virginia Beach Bar Association.
