Mark Morrell is an associate with the firm’s corporate health law practice group with a concentration on corporate and transactional health law matters. His practice involves a wide variety of issues relating to corporate compliance and governance, physician recruitment and retention, medical staff credentialing, and the drafting and interpretation of individual employment agreements and service agreements.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Morrell gained a broad range of experience in the private and public sector. Mr. Morrell was an associate in the municipal finance section of Ice Miller in Indianapolis, Indiana, where his practice focused on municipal and health care bond financings. He then served as the Director of Career & Alumni Services and adjunct instructor for a contract drafting course at Regent Law School in Virginia Beach. Mr. Morrell later clerked with Justice Agee on the Virginia Supreme Court, and again clerked with Judge Agee on the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. He has been very active in community and bar-related activities, serving on the Indiana Supreme Court's Committee on Character and Fitness (2002-2004), a member of the Virginia State Bar CLE Committee (2004-2006), and an administrator for the James Kent American Inns of Court (2004-2006).
In law school, Mr. Morrell was the Editor-in-Chief of the Regent Law Review, and his student note, “Who Wants Nominal Damages Anyway? The Impact of an Automatic Entitlement to Nominal Damages Under § 1983,” 13 REGENT U. L. REV. 225 (2000) was cited by the dissenting opinion in Dawes v. Walker, 239 F.3d 489, 497 (2d Cir. 2001).
Mr. Morrell is admitted to practice in Indiana, Virginia and the District of Columbia.
