Mike Newby’s practice focuses on corporate and transactional issues within healthcare law, which frequently involves regulatory, business, real estate, and tax concerns of healthcare providers. Mr. Newby also has experience consulting with corporate and governmental organizations about risk management and property and liability insurance-related issues. He is licensed to practice in Virginia and the District of Columbia.

In his practice, Mr. Newby advises clients on various legal issues concerning contract drafting and interpretation; corporate compliance; corporate insurance law; real estate matters; day-to-day operational concerns; healthcare and hospital law; managed care agreements; healthcare joint ventures; Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement; Medicare/Medicaid fraud and abuse; mergers, acquisitions and reorganizations; regulatory compliance; and tax exempt entities.

Mr. Newby earned his B.A. from Randolph-Macon College and his J.D., magna cum laude, from the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond. He is a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and an Associate in Risk Management (ARM).

Mr. Newby is a member of the Virginia State Bar (Health Law Section), the District of Columbia Bar, the Virginia Bar Association, the American Health Lawyers Association, the Healthcare Financial Management Association (Virginia Chapter), and the Society of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters.
