Michelle Hogan is an associate with the firm. She practices in the firm’s corporate health law practice group with a
concentration in regulatory compliance and certificate of public need law. Ms. Hogan advises health care providers on
licensure, certification, and accreditation issues, as well as other regulatory and operational matters. She also assists
health care clients with the certificate of public need process including application filing, administrative hearings, and
judicial appeals.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Hogan clerked for the Richmond City Circuit Court, where she assisted the Honorable T.J.
Markow, Melvin R. Hughes and Randall G. Johnson. While clerking, Ms. Hogan was actively involved in numerous complex
civil litigation matters. For example, she prepared the judges, observed, and helped analyze various medical malpractice
cases and administrative appeals, specifically including a complicated certificate of public need case.
Ms. Hogan received her J.D. from the College of William & Mary, Marshall-Wythe School of Law, in 2004, where she served as
Editor of the William & Mary Bill of Rights Journal. Ms. Hogan received distinction for her excellence in legal research,
writing, analysis and client relations. She was also inducted into Phi Delta Phi and served as a class representative in
the Student Bar Association. Ms. Hogan earned her B.S. from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, magna cum laude, in 2000.
