KATHRYN KRANSDORF focuses her practice on insurance coverage litigation and counseling.  Kathryn has assisted in the representation of insurance companies in a variety of coverage cases in Virginia’s courts.  She has advised insurers on such coverage matters as the duty to defend and indemnify under commercial general liability, business automobile insurance policies and homeowners insurance policies.

Prior to entering law school, Kathryn spent three years working in the insurance industry.  During this time, Kathryn managed and made coverage determinations for litigated environmental bodily injury and property damage claims involving chemical injuries, pollution, asbestos exposure, mold exposure, latex allergies, and hazardous waste.  She also investigated and managed complex bodily injury and property damage claims for a large national account, making determinations regarding coverage, liability, and damages for claims brought against the insured in all fifty states.  During this time, Kathryn cultivated extensive knowledge regarding the coverage issues that arise in commercial general liability, business automobile/garage, and umbrella/excess insurance policies, specifically with regard to the application of the pollution exclusion.

Kathryn is admitted to the practice of law in the state and federal courts in the Commonwealth of Virginia, the State of North Carolina, and the District of Columbia.  She is also admitted to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
